There was one vehicle theft reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

False statements to police: At 4:51 a.m. in the 35000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report that a vehicle was stopped for operating without lights during hours of darkness. The driver of the vehicle provided a false statement to the officer. The driver returned with a warrant issued out of Renton, and he was placed under arrest.

House for rent scam: At 11:39 a.m. in the 3300 block of Southwest 327th Place, the reporting party stated that she had found a listing for a home for rent in Federal Way. The renter started asking the reporting party questions such as name, date of birth and Social Security number, which she provided. The suspect then asked the reporting party for a check for the down payment. The victim said she then became suspicious when the amount was different from the website. The reporting party did not give the suspect any money, and she went to look at the house and found that it was not for rent. No suspect information at this time.

Squatter starts a fire: At 5:18 p.m. in the 33000 block of 18th Avenue South, there was a report that squatters had broken into an abandoned house and smoke was coming from the chimney. Officers made contact with an individual inside the house and found that there had been a fire that had started in the living room and caused damage. The individual inside was arrested for first-degree reckless burning.

Robbery: At 10:35 p.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, an officer responded to a robbery report. Investigation revealed probable cause for second-degree robbery.

March 27

Juvenile found with gun and marijuana: At 7:41 a.m. in the 1000 block of South 320th Street, officers were dispatched for a suspicious vehicle occupied by two subjects seen driving erratically. Officers arrived and contacted the males, finding marijuana open and scattered across the vehicle. Officers removed the males from the vehicle and then located a firearm under the driver’s seat. The driver was a minor who was detained, and the other passenger was issued an infraction for the marijuana violation and was released.

Laundromat burglary: At 4:58 a.m. in the 1600 block of Southwest Dash Point Road, there was a report that a suspect wearing all black with his head covered broke into the Dash Point Laundry through the back door. The suspect pried and used body force to open the door. The suspect was in and out in less than a minute. He entered with a black bag in his hand. No further information.

Stabbed himself while driving around: At 7:23 a.m. in the 28000 block of 18th Avenue South, there was a report that the department had received a phone call from a female stating that her male friend was driving in Federal Way and he had stabbed himself. She said that he was having trouble breathing, and he had done it because he was fighting with his girlfriend. Officers were given the name of the male, but were not able to locate him. The department had no further calls regarding a man who had stabbed himself.

Passed out: At 10:31 a.m. in the 1900 block of Southwest Campus Drive, there was a report that officers located a car in the middle of the roadway with the driver passed out inside while the vehicle was in drive. The subject was initially unresponsive until a fire crew was able to awaken the subject to consciousness. Officers were not able to establish probable cause for driving under the influence, but cited the subject for violation of the restriction on an ignition interlock.

Three-year-old boy: At 6:54 p.m. in the 1400 block of Southwest 320th Place, there was a report that someone had located a three-year-old boy walking in the street alone. Officers reported that the child seemed healthy, well taken care of, and had no signs of neglect or abuse. The mother of the child arrived on the scene shortly after and informed officers that her son had recently learned how to open doors, and she was distracted doing homework. Officers provided ways to prevent future events. No evidence of a crime.

Looking for Mexicans: At 8:09 p.m. in the 31000 block of 1st Avenue South, a caller reported suspicious activity at her residence. She said that three people had knocked at her door, two Hispanic males in suits who were about in their 30s or 40s, and a female wearing a dress and a hijab. The caller stated the two males had a badge on their clothing that read “ICE,” but she had limited view of them. She said the males yelled, “We’re looking for Mexicans, are there any Mexicans in here?” before leaving. Due to a large time delay, the subjects were not located. No video footage of vehicle info.

Baby tree damaged: At 4:56 a.m. in the 29000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report of a hit-and-run. When officers arrived on the scene, they located a freshly planted baby tree that had been backed into. The tree was slightly tilted, but not broken, and only needed straightening. Officers contacted the driver, and she said she accidentally did it. People on site said they did not have the authority to decide what to do. No crime established.

Man masturbating in public: At 8:04 a.m. in the 2200 block of South 314th Street, officers responded to reports of a male masturbating in a vehicle. Probable cause was established for indecent exposure. The man was arrested without incident and booked on a felony charge based on having a prior sex offense conviction.

Kidnapping suspect located: At 6:23 p.m. in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report that the suspect in a kidnapping case was spotted by a witness driving in Federal Way. At one point, her location was pinpointed near the intersection of South 324th Street and Pacific Highway. The vehicle was located exiting a nearby area. The female ditched the vehicle and the child and attempted to hail an Uber. The security officer intercepted the Uber, and then the suspect attempted to hide in a nearby restaurant. She was then taken into custody.

Spotted at car meet: At 11:09 p.m. in the 32000 block of 23rd Avenue South, there was a report that officers had numerous contacts with a black Audi S4 that repeatedly flees from police and engages in conduct amounting to reckless driving and racing. The vehicle was spotted at a car race, and an attempt to deploy a Starchase GPS tracker on the vehicle was unsuccessful, and the vehicle fled.

Gas station robbery: At 11:23 p.m. in the 35000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report of a gas station robbery.

Firearm discharged during vehicle theft: At 4:16 a.m. in the 3000 block of South 288th Street, there was a report of a theft in progress. Officers en route were advised that the reporting party had shot his firearm in the air.

Robbery at a massage parlor: At 2:09 p.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report that there had been a recent armed robbery at a massage parlor. The suspect was not located.

Facebook scammed: At 4:16 p.m. in the 3200 block of 39th Avenue South, there was a report that someone told police that they had contacted someone on Facebook about buying some items. After sending the money but not receiving the items, the suspect began to threaten the victim, telling them to keep sending money or they would be harmed. Officers found that the money was sent to a bank account in the Dominican Republic, and the phone number attached was not real, but from an app.
