Lexus has taken the wraps off two new special-edition models conceived to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its high-performance “F” division in the United States.
The Lexus GS F sedan and RC F coupé 10th anniversary special-edition models will make their official debuts at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. The automaker says some 100 units of the former and 240 of the latter will be built, presumably exclusively for the US market (of course, high-performance “F” models are currently not offered in South Africa).
The Japanese brand adds that these limited-edition models will come standard with “unique features that make them stand out beyond their already exceptional performance”. And under the bonnet? Well, nothing’s changed here, which means the naturally aspirated 5,0-litre V8 that powers the rear wheels of each model still makes 351 kW.
Both cars are finished in Nebula Grey matte paint, with Lexus saying “particular care was taken to assure that the unique finish was durable enough for the rigours of everyday use, including the ability to withstand the average mechanised car wash without degrading the quality of the finish”.
The dark finish matches the polished black multi-spoke 19-inch alloys, which are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 rubber and frame blue brake calipers.
Inside, you’ll find blue carbon-fibre trim on the window switch panel and dashboard along with plenty of blue leather accents. In the RC F, the sport seats feature blue leather with white accents along with a blue accented shift knob, steering wheel and instrument panel hood. An embossed headliner is also part of the package.
In the GS F sedan, additional blue carbon trim is used on the centre console along with blue suede dash trim and blue seatbelt straps. There’s also yet more blue leather trim on the steering wheel, console and shift knob, although the GS F doesn’t get the same embossed headliner as the RC F.
